My name is Emma Wright.
And I write.

Hello! I’m Emma.

You might know me as editorialgirl . . . although that’s a bit embarrassing these days. (For avoidance of doubt: I’m a fully grown adult).

The name came from a Madonna reference someone once made in a marketing meeting, as we argued about sales copy. “But Emma, we’re living in a material world!”

And I am editorialgirl.

Work

I’ve been writing and editing for a living since the mid 90s. After over a decade of working in Digital Media departments at companies including National Express and Maverick TV, working on websites like Channel 4’s 4Homes, I became a full-time freelancer again in 2012.

My freelance work has covered subjects as diverse as education, architecture, gift shopping and sustainability, but I have a particular interest in working with organisations and charities in the areas of health and social care.

Rest

I’ve lived in Moseley, Birmingham for the whole of my life. In fact, apart from two years in Glasgow (long story), I’ve never lived more than five miles away from my place of birth. I don’t see this as being a bad thing – Birmingham’s great. And my husband is from a coastal town, so we get to visit the seaside often enough.

Play

When I’m not writing, or sitting around tickling the cat, you’ll find me helping to run a ukulele group, playing the piano, cooking, eating, or taking photos.

And on Friday evenings you’ll find me in the pub.
